Fresh off of two buzzy TV performances this 12 months in Margo’s Got Money Troubles and The Madison, Michelle Pfeiffer has a brand new perspective on what roles she’s wanting to tackle.
Speaking at THR x Apple TV’s Leading the Narrative: The Women of Apple TV event on Sunday, Pfeiffer — sitting alongside fellow Emmy nominees Elle Fanning, Dale Dickey, Karolina Wydra, Rhea Seehorn and Jessica Williams — declared, “I never want to star in another movie, I swear to God. I only want to do ensemble pieces. It’s so much more fun, I love it so much.”
It’s an enormous remark from an actress whose film profession consists of Dangerous Liaisons, Batman Returns, Scarface, Hairspray and The Fabulous Baker Boys. This 12 months, although, she has starred in and exec produced each of her TV ventures, with each renewed for extra seasons.

Margo’s Got Money Troubles facilities on a school dropout (performed by Fanning) who turns to OnlyFans to financially help herself and her new child. Pfeiffer performs Fanning’s mom, Shyanne, a former Hooters waitress with a daring sense of fashion and a few eye-catching veneers; Nick Offerman, Greg Kinnear, Michael Angarano and Nicole Kidman co-star, with Pfeiffer’s real-life husband, David E. Kelley, serving as showrunner.
“I’ve just been so bowled over by the female performances on television and honestly, they’re just really owning TV,” the star stated on the panel, saying of Money Troubles, “I love how complicated and flawed all these characters are, and it really reminds me of that famous Robin Williams quote where he says, ‘Remember that everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about, and be kind.’ That kind of, for me, sums up the show and the message of the show, and I’m really proud to be a part of it.”
Pfeiffer additionally teased that in her off-camera life she capabilities as “the wallflower,” and “it was so fun to be able to live vicariously through her and to see the looks on the crew’s faces whenever Shyanne would show up to the set. They were just, ‘Oh God, now look what she’s wearing!’ Everybody needs a little Shyanne in their life and in their closet.”
