EastEnders lines up sad secret about Darnell ahead of dramatic first scenes

EastEnders newcomer Christopher Colquhoun has revealed a sad secret about his character, Darnell Larson Jr, ahead of his dramatic debut in Albert Square because the character is concerned in Denise Fox’s storyline.

In next week’s scenes, Denise takes a flip for the more severe and is put in a coma as her household searches for a stem cell donor. Hope arrives, fortunately, once they uncover that her long-lost half-brother might be a match.

Asked about his character, Colquhoun known as Darnell a “science buff and single dad” who’s “a bit nerdy, anxious, curious and full of enthusiasm”, including: “Darnell is simply excited to discover a side of his family he never knew existed.

“He’s naturally open and trusting, so he would not spend time questioning why they’ve reached out to him. He needs to get to know them and, in typical Darnell style, virtually loses sight of the larger image as a result of he is so fascinated by the connection itself.”

Speaking about how his perspective changes once they explain Denise’s cancer diagnosis, Colquhoun said: “The penny drops and he out of the blue realises, ‘Where’s my sister?’ But he is not offended about being misled. Instead, he is overwhelmed by the enormity of the scenario.”

Teasing a sad again story for Darnell, the actor added: “As the story develops, we additionally start to know why hospitals are such a troublesome and triggering setting for him.”
