The Wisconsin Badgers continued their dream run within the NCAA Tournament on Thursday by defeating No. 2 North Dakota, 2-1, within the Frozen Four semifinals.
Wisconsin’s two first-period targets inside 30 seconds of game time set the early tone. Mike Hastings’ workforce then held North Dakota at bay till the ultimate minutes, when, with an empty web, the Fighting Hawks scored to chop the Badgers’ result in one. Wisconsin held on to the ultimate buzzer, finishing the inconceivable upset.
The Badgers entered the NCAA Tournament ranked twelfth. They defeated No. 3 Michigan State within the quarterfinals and No. 2 North Dakota within the semifinals. They will face Denver, which outlasted No. 1 Michigan in two overtimes in Thursday’s different semifinal.
