(WLUK) — There will likely be no statewide tornado drill in Wisconsin this yr.
Wisconsin Emergency Management says it determined to cancel Thursday’s drill in gentle of the severe weather that has impacted the state this week. With emergency administration, native businesses and affected individuals responding to and recovering from the impacts of the storms, state officers say the drill would place further pressure on already stretched sources.
“While tornado preparedness is critically important, our immediate priority is on the safety and recovery of those impacted by these recent storms,” Wisconsin Emergency Management Administrator Greg Engle mentioned in a information launch. “We recognize the value of these drills, but at this time, our communities need the flexibility and focus on real-world responses.”

The drill, which might have taken place within the afternoon and night, is a part of Severe Weather Awareness Week within the state.
