UNLV held on to defeat Wyoming 73-70 on Wednesday in the primary spherical of the Mountain West males’s basketball tournament on the Thomas & Mack Center.
Kimani Hamilton scored 23 factors to lead the eighth-seeded Rebels, who had a 16-point first-half lead, then relied on Hamilton’s heroics to seal the sport late.
No. 9 Wyoming was led by Gavin Gores’ 15 factors.
The win broke a streak of struggles in the convention tournament for the Rebels, who hadn’t received a sport in the tournament over a group that wasn’t Air Force in the previous 10 years.
The Rebels will advance to the quarterfinals in opposition to No. 1 Utah State at midday Thursday.
