Texas man identified as hiker who fell at Angels Landing

SPRINGDALE, Washington County — A 68-year-old Texas man died after a fall at Zion National Park on Friday.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Utah’s Office of the Medical Examiner identified the man Monday as Gilberto Ramos, of Laredo, Texas.

Ramos was climbing at the park when he fell from the chained part of the Angels Landing path at Zion National Park in southern Utah round 2 p.m. Friday, the sheriff’s workplace stated in a press launch. Park rangers and native regulation enforcement businesses responded to the incident after stories from guests. Ramos was situated on the north aspect of Angels Landing in Zion Canyon close to Big Bend.

The West Rim Trail, together with Scout Lookout and Angels Landing, was briefly closed throughout response and restoration operations.

Additionally, Angel’s Landing can be closed from Monday by means of Thursday for scheduled upkeep unrelated to Friday’s incident.

The National Park Service and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office are dealing with the investigation.
