SAN ANTONIO – Spurs rookie Dylan Harper left San Antonio’s regular-season finale with an damage to the thumb on his taking pictures hand, the group mentioned.
Harper left the sport towards the visiting Denver Nuggets on the 2:33 mark within the third quarter after an and-1, and the Spurs later mentioned that he wouldn’t return resulting from a left thumb damage. San Antonio did not present any additional replace after the sport. Harper returned to the bench with a lightweight wrap on the thumb, and the hope is that the group is being cautious with the playoffs set to start out in a couple of week.
The rookie out of Rutgers completed his first common season averaging 11.8 factors, 3.9 assists and three.4 rebounds in 22 minutes per sport, showing in 68 video games and beginning in 4. He’s artful, a spectacular finisher on the rim, and in 25 video games after the All-Star Break he shot 57% from the ground and 48.6% from deep.
Harper is a giant a part of San Antonio’s depth, and is happy to participate on this first postseason run. He spoke on Friday after beginning in a win over the Mavericks.
“Just trying to set the tone, fill in the shoes of starters like Steph (Castle), fill in his shoes and try to set the tone on both ends of the floor, try to get everyone involved early and still try to be myself,” Harper mentioned. I believe our consideration to element and our willingness to place within the further efforts… put them into the sport and simply put our power in the best issues. Our momentum going into this postseason is certainly essential.”
An injury to the second-overall pick’s shooting hand could derail that momentum, but Harper has plenty of time to rest up. He said before the season that San Antonio would be in the playoffs this year, and he’ll have a big part to play.
“I predicted that. But I imply, that is simply the boldness I’ve myself. I do know that I’m a winner, and I do know that no matter group I’m on, I’m gonna hopefully attempt to carry some profitable tendencies to the group, be that man who does regardless of the group wants… 60 wins is unbelievable. I am unable to consider I performed so many video games within the 12 months. This is sort of new for me. But simply to be within the playoffs and have the group that now we have, and simply striving for increasingly more.”
Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express News shared a positive update after seeing Harper before they left the arena. Harper said that he jammed the thumb, and McDonald reported that he “did not appear too involved shifting ahead.”
