DETROIT – A dashing driver slammed into a house on Detroit’s west facet Sunday, igniting a fire that left a household with nothing.

Detroit police say the crash occurred round 4 p.m. on the nook of Puritan and Harlow, not removed from Southfield Highway and Grand River.

“My daughter came downstairs and said, ‘Ma, did you hear that?’ And we come outside and we see the car actually in the house,” Tucker mentioned.

Tucker rushed over and located the driver nonetheless trapped contained in the burning automobile.

“I see the young man still in the car and I’m like, ‘OK guys, you got to hurry up and get him out’ — the car was on fire,” she mentioned.

She mentioned a bunch of males who had been enjoying basketball close by ran over and helped pull the driver to security.

“Then they carried him to the house across the street and by the time I turned back around the house was in flames,” Tucker mentioned.

Police mentioned the driver was taken to the hospital with minor accidents and ticketed for careless driving.

“Just grateful that everybody walked away with their lives,” Tucker mentioned.
