The minute Sadie Sink (“Stranger Things”) bought forged in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” the prevailing concept was that Sink could be introducing somebody new and necessary for the longer term of the MCU.
How about Jean Grey? That was the rumor, and it’s now been confirmed by The Hot Mic’s Jeff Sneider. Sink has formally graduated from “Stranger Things,” and he or she’s now hopped onboard the MCU.
After “Thunderbolts,” director Jake Schreier is helming Marvel’s extremely anticipated “X-Men” reboot. The script is being written by Michael Lesslie, whose credit embrace “Assassin’s Creed” and “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.”
No forged has been formally introduced but, however that hasn’t stopped rumors from swirling: Sink has been hooked up to Jean Grey for months now. Also rumored, Jack Champion (“Scream VI”) is reportedly being eyed for Cyclops, Julia Butters (“The Fabelmans”) for Kitty Pryde, and Margaret Qualley (“The Substance”) for Rogue.
The reboot is being billed as the X-Men’s big-screen return since Disney acquired twentieth Century Fox in 2019. Fox’s X-Men franchise, which spanned seven movies and three Wolverine spinoffs, ended on a bitter word with 2019’s “Dark Phoenix,” which bombed with each critics and audiences.
There have been rather a lot of dangerous ‘X-Men’ films: “X-Men: The Last Stand” (‘06), “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” (‘09), “X-Men: Apocalypse” (‘16), “Dark Phoenix” (‘19), “The New Mutants” (‘20) … Fox milked this franchise to death. By my count, there have been four good X-Men movies released: “X2” (‘02), “X-Men: First Class” (‘11), “X-Men: Days of Future Past” (‘14) and “Logan” (‘17).
No word yet on when the X-Men reboot will shoot, but with a rumored 2028 release date, I would expect it to start production sometime in late 2026 or early 2027. In the meantime, Sink’s reveal as Jean Grey in ‘Brand New Day’ will probably be unveiled quickly as that movie hits theaters July 31, 2026.
