This season would be the final for Philadelphia’s skilled field lacrosse staff. On Monday, March 30, the Philadelphia Wings introduced that they are going to cease operations following the top of the 2025-2026 season.
“This was not an easy conclusion to reach, and it is one we considered with great care,” a staff spokesperson wrote. “Since the Wings’ re-establishment in 2017 and return to the turf in 2018, the team has proudly carried on Philadelphia’s rich lacrosse tradition at the highest level.”

The Wings have been one of many 4 unique groups within the Eagle Pro Box Lacrosse League, knowledgeable field lacrosse league that launched in 1987. The league was renamed the Major Indoor Lacrosse League in 1989 after which the National Lacrosse League (NLL) in 1998. The staff relocated to Uncasville, Connecticut, in 2014 and was renamed the New England Black Wolves.
Then in 2017, an NLL enlargement franchise was given to Comcast Spectacor in Philadelphia. The new staff took on the Philadelphia Wings title.
The Wings performed on the now-demolished Spectrum from 1987 by means of 1996 and the previous Wells Fargo Center, now the Xfinity Mobile Arena.
