In loving reminiscence of Marilyn Jean Blackburn
Marilyn Jean Blackburn, a beloved mom, grandmother, sister, aunt and pal, peacefully
handed away on August 15, 2026 in Eureka. Born on March 30, 1948, in Olympia,
Washington, Marilyn grew up in a family that was something however peculiar. Her mom, Doris
Hunter, stuffed the house with an unforgettable menagerie of animals that are actually a part of the
household lore. There was a monkey who stored everybody on their toes, a mischievous myna chook who
insisted on bathing within the fish tank, “Lambert,” the sheep who politely knocked on the entrance door
together with his hoof when he wished to return inside and “Rembrandt,” the bulldog who didn’t chew — he
simply “ran into you with his teeth.” Those early years formed Marilyn’s lifelong love of animals.
The sleepovers on the Hunter home had been wildly entertaining and made for some memorable
tales.
Marilyn spent her youth in Eureka, graduating from Eureka High School in 1966. Not lengthy after,
she stepped into one among her proudest roles: changing into a single mom to her daughter, Angela
(born of her marriage to James G. Allen). In 1975, via sheer dedication and grit, Marilyn

Matthew Peters; and 7 nice‑grandchildren. Marilyn can be survived by her sisters, Phyllis
Parke and Suzy Mott, and by her nieces and nephews: Daron Birnbaum, Rozlin, Lizbeth, and
Thomas Mott, and Jarah and Justin Parke. She had seven great-nieces and nephews and a
great-great niece and nephew.
Marilyn was deeply rooted in her religion, collaborating within the First Covenant Church in Eureka and
the Church of the Nazarene in Weaverville. Her kindness and reward of creating everybody really feel
welcome made her a cherished presence in each neighborhood she touched.Marilyn’s life was a testomony to resilience, love, humor and the energy of a girl who gave
her all to the individuals she cherished. Her tales and laughter will reside on in each life she
touched. Marilyn would need us all to grab the second, take the journey and never wait – as a result of

Her household extends heartfelt gratitude to the workers at Timber Ridge and the Hospice House of
