UNCASVILLE, Conn. – The top-ranked and top-seeded UConn girls’s basketball group (32-0, 20-0 BIG EAST) faces No. 5-seed Creighton (16-14, 11-9) in the BIG EAST Tournament semifinals Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Mohegan Sun Arena. The sport will air on peacock/NBC Sports Network and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97.9).
The Huskies gained the 2025-26 BIG EAST common season championship and are the No. 1 seed in this weekend’s BIG EAST Tournament. The Huskies are searching for their thirty first convention match title and twenty fourth as members of the BIG EAST. UConn has gained 12 consecutive convention match championships.
UConn superior to the semis with an 84-39 win over No. 8-seed Georgetown in the quarterfinals Saturday. Senior (*1*) had a season-high 14 factors and added seven rebounds vs. the Hoyas. UConn had 42 factors off turnovers vs. Georgetown.
UConn is 14-0 all-time vs. Creighton. The groups final met on Feb. 11 in Storrs, Conn., a 94-44 win for the Huskies. Sophomore Allie Ziebell led UConn with 20 factors off the bench.
No. 5-seed Creighton beat No. 4-seed Marquette, 57-44, on Saturday. This season, Ava Zediker leads the Bluejays with 13.5 factors per sport. Head coach Jim Flanery is in his twenty fourth season at Creighton.
UConn gained quite a few end-of-season BIG EAST honors. Sophomore Sarah Strong was named the convention’s Player and Defensive Player of the Year whereas Blanca Quiñonez was tabbed Freshman and Sixth Woman of the Year. Strong is joined on the All-BIG EAST First Team by graduate scholar Azzi Fudd and junior KK Arnold, and Strong and Arnold are on the All-Defensive Team.
