There’s a couple of quarter of the season left for NHL groups, so so much can change. But as of March 10, it seems to be like the value of admission (by standings factors) to the Eastern Conference playoff bracket goes to be a bit greater than qualifying in the West.
Nevertheless, eight groups will qualify from the convention. Three of these slots are virtually 100% spoken for by the Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild. The Pacific Division’s prime three — the Anaheim Ducks, Vegas Golden Knights and Edmonton Oilers — are nicely on their approach.
But what about the wild playing cards?
As the video games start on Tuesday, the Utah Mammoth are in the first wild-card spot, with 73 factors by 64 video games. The Mammoth have gone 4-2-1 since the Olympic break, together with three straight wins previous to Monday’s OT loss. Tuesday, they face off towards the Wild (8 p.m. ET, ESPN+/Hulu), whom they’ve crushed in each matchups to this point this season.
Beyond Tuesday’s recreation, the Mammoth have 17 video games remaining, eight of which are towards groups at the moment in playoff place. How does that stack up towards the groups chasing them?
The Seattle Kraken are in the second wild-card spot, with 67 factors by 62 video games. Including Tuesday, the Kraken have 20 video games remaining, together with 10 towards present playoff groups.
The San Jose Sharks have 66 factors by 61 video games. Of their remaining 21 video games, simply eight are towards playoff groups.
The Los Angeles Kings even have 66 factors, however by 63 video games. Their remaining 19 video games embody solely seven matchups towards playoff groups.
The Nashville Predators stay on the bubble, with 64 factors in 63 video games. With 19 video games remaining, they’re going to tackle playoff groups in 10 contests.
