NASA releases report on fireball spotted in the Northeast, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A fireball seen streaking throughout the sky Tuesday afternoon sparked lots of of studies throughout the tri-state space.

According to NASA, the meteor first grew to become seen round 2:34 p.m. at an altitude of about 48 miles above the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Mastic Beach on Long Island.

Traveling southwest at roughly 30,000 mph, the fireball finally disintegrated about 27 miles above Galloway Township, New Jersey.

Video captured by Brittany Wilhelmy exhibits the brilliant fireball because it streaked throughout the sky.

The American Meteor Society logged more than 200 reports from folks in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, New York and Connecticut.
