Universal Pictures’ The Mummy is reuniting the household.
John Hannah, who appeared within the earlier Mummy films made on the flip of the century, is reuniting with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz for the most recent installment of the horror-adventure franchise.
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of movie collective Radio Silence, who collectively revitalized the Scream franchise with 2022’s Scream and 2023’s Scream VI and are behind the Ready or Not movies, are helming the characteristic, which has a script by David Coggeshall (The Family Plan, Orphan: First Kill).
Plot particulars are being saved within the sarcophagus at this stage. The unique film, launched in 1999, starred Fraser as treasure hunter who travels to Egypt within the Nineteen Twenties with a spunky librarian, performed by Weisz, solely to by accident awaken a supernaturally highly effective excessive priest.
Hannah performed the less-then-trustworthy brother of the librarian, a thief who, over the course of the unique films made, is at all times on the make, gaining and dropping spoils, and ends every journey with somewhat one thing in his pocket, whilst historic cities and treasures crumble round him and his buddies. Universal will launch the following characteristic on May 19, 2028. According to sources, the challenge is ready to start capturing within the fall in London and Morocco.
As somewhat amuse-bouche, Universal will rerelease 2001’s The Mummy Returns in theaters nationwide on March 27, 2026, to mark that movie’s 25th anniversary.
Sean Daniel, who produced the unique films along with his late associate James Jacks, is again as producer. Joining him are frequent Radio Silence collaborators William Sherak, James Vanderbilt and Paul Neinstein, who will produce by way of their Project X Entertainment banner. Project X was concerned in Radio Silence films equivalent to Abigail and the Scream films.
Fraser and Hivemind’s Jason F. Brown are government produce the movie.
Hannah is a veteran British actor who stole scenes in Nineteen Nineties basic Four Weddings and a Funeral and had a key position in Starz’ Spartacus sequence. He additionally appeared in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Last of Us and Black Mirror.
