‘It’s devastating to see this’ | Family’s barn damaged by severe weather in Hendricks County

Severe storms rolled by means of Hendricks County Wednesday morning, leaving harm to a number of houses and companies.

HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. — Severe storms ripped through Hendricks County Wednesday morning, leaving harm to a number of houses and companies. 

Patty Ingram recalled the moments she heard the storm coming March 11.

“Around 8 a.m., I heard this horrible ruckus, kind of like the metal was being ripped off the pole barn,” Patty stated. 

Patty stated she was inside her household’s pole barn close to Lizton, simply off U.S. 136 and North County Road 100, when the wind and rain picked up.

“I hurried up and grabbed my phone and called the kids, only to find out the pole barn roof had been tore off,” Patty stated. “I was lucky to survive it all. I’m fine, it’s just stuff, but it’s devastating to see this.”

Parts of that roof flew off and landed about 50 yards down the road, scattering a lifetime of recollections.

“I’ve lost my parents. I’ve lost my husband, so a lot of memorabilia (is) in this pole barn,” Patty stated. 

“Barns been here since early ’90s and not really had stuff like this hit us,” stated Chris Ingram, Patty’s son. “It’s been around us, but truly hitting here, I guess it was our turn.”

Chris spent Wednesday morning saving recollections of his dad.

“A big picture board of him,” Chris stated. That banner hanging down is one thing they put on the Pittsboro fireworks yearly. They named the stage after my dad, the Walt Freedom Stage … We had deer heads that we have collected through the years. That’s me, him and my son. Kind of reminiscence issues.”

The Ingrams weren’t the one ones impacted Wednesday. 13News additionally noticed fallen bushes, bent velocity indicators, items of metallic roofing and even athletic gear tossed round exterior of Tri-West Middle School.

Despite all of the harm, this small city is simply grateful all of them have one another.

“Everybody has called each other and checked on each other,” Patty stated. “Everyone’s like ‘Hey, if you need anything, we’ll drop what we’re doing and be there.'”

So far, no accidents have been reported in Lizton.
