Tuesday marks the 250th anniversary of the evacuation of Boston by the British army, and the event can be marked with a particular ceremony and memorial service.
Evacuation Day is authorized vacation noticed on March 17 in Suffolk County, commemorating the British evacuation of Boston on March 17, 1776. It was the primary main victory for George Washington’s Continental Army in the American Revolution following an 11-month siege of the town.
Tuesday’s ceremony will start with a memorial service in St. Augustine’s chapel in South Boston, adopted by a brief procession as much as Dorchester Heights for a commemorative program featuirng political and group leaders from throughout the state, together with Gov. Maura Healey and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu.
There may even be a number of reenacting models, together with the Lexington Minute Men, the 2nd Massachusetts Regiment, the Henry Knox Color Guard, the Henry Knox Regiment of Artillery and historic property from Fort Ticonderoga and Saratoga 250.

- 10:15 a.m. — Procession from St. Augustine’s Chapel up Telegraph Street to Dorchester Heights.
- 11 a.m. — Commemorative workouts in entrance of the Dorchester Heights Monument.
