Emergency reported at elementary school in Waynesboro, Virginia

Police are on scene of a reported emergency at an elementary school in Virginia.

The incident passed off at Westwood Hills Elementary School in Waynesboro, Waynesboro Public Schools Assistant Superintendent Ryan Barber mentioned.

In a submit on the school’s web site, Barber mentioned the Waynesboro Police Department “is managing an emergency” at the school.

The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office instructed the USA TODAY Network “children are safe and are being evacuated” following the incident, which “is contained and secured at this time.”

A reunification of scholars and households will happen at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Mt. Vernon Street in town, based on Barber.

“Children are safe and are being evacuated from the school,” the sheriff’s workplace mentioned. “Please wait for notification and instruction from Waynesboro Public Schools. Please do not respond to the school we need access for the buses and emergency vehicles.”
