Howie Roseman is including extra depth to the secondary, as Ian Rapoport stories that former Patriots and Commanders CB Jonathan Jones has agreed to a one-year deal with the Eagles, including veteran depth to Philadelphia’s secondary. Jones (5-9, 185) is a ten-year NFL veteran who went undrafted and signed with the New England Patriots in 2016. Jones spent his first 9 NFL seasons in New England earlier than signing with Washington final offseason.
In 2024, Jones appeared in 17 video games for New England and tallied 58 tackles, six passes defended, and two pressured fumbles. He began a minimum of 14 video games for the third consecutive season. Jones began a career-high 16 video games in 2022 and posted career-highs in tackles (68), interceptions (4), and passes defended (11).
In 2025, Jones began 12 video games, logging 41 tackles, 5 passes defended, and 0 interceptions. Jones has allowed a career-high 13.4 yards per catch in back-to-back seasons. He’ll compete with Kelee Ringo, Jakorian Bennett, Michael Carter II, Ambry Thomas, Tariq Castro-Fields, and Mac McWilliams for a spot on the 53-man roster.
