IndyCar’s Scott Dixon drew criticism from NASCAR radio host Danielle Trotta on Sirius XM’s On Track for saying NASCAR races are boring … however social media is not positive that is what he truly mentioned.
In an interview with Frontstretch.com previous to IndyCar’s Music City Grand Prix, Dixon was requested in regards to the size of the race at 300 laps.
“I don’t know,” Dixon mentioned, although the race was in the reduction of to 225 laps when it was delayed till Monday. “I don’t know. I find it really hard to watch Cup races. It allows for a nap. Maybe that’s good. I don’t know.”
Trotta responded: “I can not believe Scott Dixon said that. The irony of an IndyCar racer saying our races are bad? Bro. You want to take a shot at NASCAR. Look at your ratings.
“Don’t let the door hit you on the best way out, Dixon.”
Many have pointed out that Dixon was likely responding to the length of NASCAR races — a common lament of fans — not the quality of the races. The Brickyard 400 is, of course, being held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indianapolis 500 and IndyCar.
“The season and the races are too lengthy I’m positive is what he meant,” former IndyCar driver Marco Andretti posted on X. “Doubt he meant that the racing is unhealthy. Must be a sluggish information day to go this loopy over somebody’s private opinion. Unrelated. The season and the races are too lengthy.”
