The Chargers chosen Arizona security Genesis Smith within the fourth spherical (No. 131 total) within the 2026 NFL Draft on Saturday.
The Athletic’s Dane Brugler, who had him as a Top 10 security prospect, supplied the next breakdown of Smith:
He has a pure center-field ability set due to his capacity to learn the quarterback and vary towards the soccer. Similar in methods to Callen Bullock, he has starter-level upside — if he makes the required enhancements.
The choice of Smith offers the Chargers one other secondary piece for 2026 and past, as Smith now joins a room spearheaded by All-Pro Derwin James, Jr. and the likes of Elijah Molden, Tony Jefferson and RJ Mickens.
The 21-year-old Smith is listed at 6-foot-2 and 202 kilos.
Smith is coming off a 12 months as a Third-Team All-Big 12 choice after main the Wildcats with two compelled fumbles in 2025.
