NEW YORK − Alison Brie is able to present her darkish aspect.
The actress and producer rose to fame on the quirky NBC sitcom “Community,” starring as Annie Edison reverse actors like Joel McHale and Donald Glover. Now she’s prepared for a tough pivot, enjoying Evil-Lyn, supervillain Skeletor’s right-hand girl in “Masters of the Universe.”
“I was really excited to get to play a supervillain,” she says. “I watched a bunch of the old cartoon, and she really is like a classic femme fatale character, but with a sense of humor. Just unlike anything I’ve ever really done.”
“A lot of the work that I’ve done, everything is about reality,” Brie says. In “Masters,” she provides, “the whole point is that everybody is larger than life − some people physically, this character more just in her evilness. It was so fun to work on, and the cast is great.”
The forged options up-and-comers and established A-listers, together with Jared Leto, Idris Elba, Camila Mendes and Nicholas Galitzine.
Brie, 43, is recent off a shoot with husband and fellow actor Dave Franco for the 2025 physique horror flick “Together.” The title says all of it.
“When Dave and I shot ‘Together,’ it truly was just the two of us. … like 90% of the shoot was Dave and I, all day, every day,” she says. “Universe,” she says, is “the opposite” and an “expanse into this new world.”

Though Franco will likely be absent from set, that will not imply a scarcity of togetherness for the couple, who wed in 2017.
“Dave and I prioritize quality time so much in our relationship,” she says, a lot in order that it “dilutes” the significance of a serious vacation like Valentine’s Day anniversaries, she says. “Most years, and I’m not kidding, Dave’s mom texts us happy anniversary, and then that’s how we both remember.”

Alison Brie’s date nights with Dave Franco
If they are not huge on milestones, how about date night time? “Truly, his dream is a home-cooked meal by me, and then we just watch a movie,” says Brie, who’s launching a brand new partnership with meal-kit company HelloFresh. What would possibly Dave chef up for her? “Dave does not cook. Period,” she says with a chuckle. “He would say the same thing.”
The couple likes to host pals. “I spend so much time traveling for work, when I’m home, the way that I like to fill up my cup, especially when I’m feeling really depleted, is spending time with friends,” she says. But “the prep gives me anxiety.” Her marketing campaign with HelloFresh goals to assist clear up that; her personally curated menu was born out of a want for “community and ease” and consists of meals she really plans to make the week of the launch.
She has hosted some memorable and star-studded dinner events.
“Years ago, when I was on ‘Community,’ I ended up having an impromptu get-together at my house, and QuestLove made an appearance. And I remember at one point looking over, the guests are mingling, having drinks, and Questlove is like drumming on the coffee table, and I was like, ‘This is a cool party.'”
Her and Franco’s preferrred recipe for an evening in does not require any star energy although, she says.
“We actually are such homebodies,” she insists. “And probably the most low-key individuals you may think about.”
