A24‘s Onslaught trailer is a fairly rattling expertise.
Directed by Adam Wingard and written by Simon Barrett (the group behind You’re Next, The Guest, and Blair Witch), the horror-action-thriller sees a bunch of genetically engineered tremendous troopers on the unfastened, with dramatic monikers like The Butcher, Crybaby, and Cockroach. In the trailer, these “human equivalents of a heat-seeking missile” are launched, earlier than they terrorise an Army sniper (Adria Arjona), her younger daughter, and their neighbours within the desert.
And it is all set to an overtly 28 Years Later-style remix of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s 1941 “Day of Infamy” speech — delivered by the U.S. president after Japan’s assault on Pearl Harbor, and successfully signalling America’s entry into World War II.
Cast-wise, Arjona is joined by Dan Stevens, Rebecca Hall, Eric Wareheim, Reginald VelJohnson, Michael Biehn, Drew Starkey, and Alex Pereira.
