EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Two persons are in hassle after child abuse allegations at an Evansville daycare.
Records present a warrant was issued Wednesday for Tashshavviyon Stinson, however she hasn’t proven up but within the Vanderburgh County Jail.
Another girl, 47-year-old Andrea Williamson, is accused of failing to report the abuse. She was arrested and bonded out of jail Thursday.
According to an affidavit, the abuse occurred again in May at Kindergate Developmental Child Care Center.
Officials say a five-year-old sufferer claimed they had been put in a closet on two separate events and even hit with a deal with of a brush.
14 News spoke to Sgt. Anthony Aussieker with EPD for extra data.
“The child made allegations that they had not been fed during the day, they had not been given a blanket at naptime, but more concerning is that the child had said they’d been locked in a closet and struck with a broom,” Aussieker said.
As police investigated, they are saying these allegations turned out to be true, saying video from the investigation confirmed 29-year-old Tashshavviyon Stinson, a 10-year veteran on the daycare, placing the 5 12 months outdated within the closet, then leaving him alone after hitting the child with a brush.
Court data present Stinson put the child within the closet a number of occasions after which went to the liquor retailer. Records reveal Stinson had hassle with alcohol previously.
“It’s terrifying. You know when we as parents kind of give over some of that care to our children, you know, that’s our most prized possession, so when we do that, we do it in the full faith that this person is going to take appropriate care of our child as we would if we were able to. I can’t imagine the fear, anger, the crazy emotions that family is feeling now,” Aussieker said.
During the investigation, police arrested 47-year-old Andrea Williamson, who they are saying was within the classroom on the time of the incident, however did not report it.
They say Williamson violated Indiana’s mandated reporting legal guidelines, and has been charged with neglect of a dependent.
“You don’t get the out to say ‘I was waiting to see’, you are mandated to report immediately, especially in that role of a caregiver, but if you don’t feel comfortable in intervening because of safety or whatever your concerns might be, call 9-1-1,” Aussieker said.
Again, right now police are on the lookout for Stinson to allow them to place her beneath arrest.
Williamson is out on bond – her courtroom date is July twenty eighth.
