The Amazon MGM Studios’ Bart Layton-directed and written movie noir Crime 101 will hit Prime Video on Wednesday, April 1.
That represents a 47-day theatrical-to-streaming window for the Amazon film; longer than the 30-day that the Dwayne Johnson-Chris Evans holiday movie, Red One, had.
Crime 101, starring Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbara, Corey Hawkins, Nick Nolte and Jennifer Jason Leigh opened on Feb. 13 to a 3-day of $14.2M with 89% licensed contemporary from Rotten Tomatoes critics and a B CinemaScore. The $90M web manufacturing finaled at $36.4M home, $71.7M worldwide.
Based on the Don Winslow novella, Crime 101 follows an elusive jewel thief (Hemsworth) whose string of heists alongside the 101 freeway have mystified police. When he eyes the rating of a lifetime, his path crosses that of a disillusioned insurance coverage dealer (Berry) who’s going through her personal crossroads. Convinced he has discovered a sample, a relentless detective (Ruffalo) is closing in, elevating the stakes even larger. As the heist approaches, the road between hunter and hunted begins to blur, and all three are confronted with life-defining selections – and the belief that there might be no turning again.
Amazon MGM Studios lately noticed its highest grossing film ever because it acquired MGM with the Ryan Gosling starring sci-fi film Project Hail Mary which recently cleared $300M at the global box office.
