Claude took to his social media to put up a heartbreaking tribute to a former candidate on the smash BBC present, not realising he had died over a decade earlier − main to backlash
The Apprentice star Claude Littner has paid a touching tribute to a former star of the present. However, Claude didn’t realise that the person he had been honouring in his put up had died ten years beforehand.
Claude, 76, has been part of the smash BBC present for the reason that very starting, having been part of the notorious interview stage that takes place proper earlier than the ultimate week. He turned considered one of Lord Sugar’s aides from the 2015 collection, however after a biking accident in 2021, he had to hand the job to former winner Tim Campbell.
Now, the star has been caught out after providing his condolences to a person who had died greater than ten years beforehand. It comes as he prepares to return to the show to grill this year’s candidates forward of their last week.
Taking to his X (previously Twitter) account on Wednesday (April 8), Claude provided a heartfelt tribute to former candidate Stuart Baggs. Stuart had been on the sixth collection of the present and was finally fired after failing to impress Lord Sugar sufficient to carry to the ultimate.
“Sad news indeed about the passing of Stuart Baggs,” Claude wrote in his put up. “A memorable interviewee on ‘The Apprentice’.
“He shocked me together with his unforgettable response, claiming he was ‘a model’ − sensible,” Claude continued, adding a clapping emoji. “RIP,” he finished before adding a praying emoji to sign off the post.
However, within minutes, a community note was added to the post, which confirmed that Stuart, who had gone on to have a strong career after the BBC show, had actually died in 2015 − 11 years after Claude made the post.
Fans of the BBC present had been fast to pull Claude up on his accidental fake pas. One consumer wrote: “He died 11 years in the past!”
“Why has it taken you 11 years?” questioned a second account, whilst a third chimed in: “Yes it was very mentioned; however he died in 2015, Claude.”
Others were quick to poke fun at Littner’s extremely delayed reaction to Stuart’s death, with one user writing: “Wait till you hear about COVID…” A second added: “Finger is on the heartbeat right here.”
Claude has not posted another tribute clarifying the situation following the backlash from his initial post. However, other users who were also unaware of Stuart’s death also left touching words for the former TV star.
Stuart, after being grilled by the interviewers, was ultimately let go from the process, just missing out on the top two. After his time on the show, he had small stints on other shows − including Celebrity Coach Trip, Come Dine with Me and Pointless.
Stuart passed away in July 2015 after being found dead by officers on the Isle of Man. Initial reports found the cause of death could not be determined, but it was later ruled that he had suffered an asthma attack.
