NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has welcomed that Sweden will host the next meeting of Allied Ministers of Foreign Affairs. It will happen in Helsingborg, a coastal metropolis in southern Sweden, on 21-22 May 2026.
Mr. Rutte stated, “I am pleased that ministers are meeting in Sweden, a highly valued Ally that makes many important contributions to Euro-Atlantic security.”
This is the first time Sweden will host NATO ministers because it joined the Alliance in March 2024.
The Secretary General defined that the gathering of Ministers of Foreign Affairs is a crucial milestone. He stated, “NATO is delivering on its key priorities, elevated defence spending, extra defence manufacturing, and robust assist for Ukraine.
Ministers will tackle how we will proceed to make good progress in these essential areas. Their work in Helsingborg will assist lay the groundwork for the next summit of NATO Heads of State and Government held in Ankara this July.”
