Sunderland AFC legend Kevin Phillips latest to take part in Foundation of Light Changing Room Chat

Sunderland AFC legend Kevin Phillips joined Foundation of Light students for the latest instalment of Changing Room Chat.

The collection of talks is giving gamers from Sunderland AFC’s official charity’s soccer and schooling programme the prospect to hear from skilled throughout numerous roles in the soccer business.

Phillips, a Premier League Golden Boot and European Golden Shoe winner, follows one other Black Cats legend Lee Cattermole, academy graduate and now Foundation coach Rees Greenwood, and Sunderland AFC Women participant Emily Cassap in taking part.

The former England worldwide shared anecdotes and recommendation from all points of his profession, from being noticed in non-league after his launch from Southampton to entering into teaching and administration, and of course his vastly profitable six-year spell at Sunderland.

Snubbing the golden boot and representing England, Phillips stated: “When you’re informed that you simply’re not going to be ok to be an expert footballer, you’ve setbacks, all of us have setbacks in life, it’s about overcoming that.

“That’s probably one of the proudest things when I sit and think about my career, not letting it get me down and proving people wrong, which is great.”

Reflecting on people who have impacted his profession, Phillips added: “Peter Reid was an enormous supervisor for me.

“Talking about man management, he was one of the best. He knew when to give you a kick up the backside, he knew when to put an arm around you, he knew when to take you for a drink or meal.”
