Strictly Come Dancing star Tyler West has revealed he did not come out of his room for two years after witnessing a murder when he was simply 14-years-old.

Appearing on the most recent episode of Pete Wicks’ Man Made podcast this week, Tyler, 30, mirrored on how witnessing a deadly stabbing on a London council property affected his psychological well being. Fighting tears, Tyler bravely spoke in regards to the incident to Pete.
“I’m panicking over here because I saw the men coming back out and then they’re trying to put the body in a bag. And it was, it was horrible. It just went on for like, I think in total, the phone call to the police was just over 10 minutes and still nobody had arrived by this point.
“And then the two men had gone back into the flat and we’d gone out there, me and my mum, and my mum’s trying to put the towels on the wounds, I’m standing over this man’s body. And I just, I was in hysterics. I was like, I was in shock.
“I couldn’t feel the tears running down my face. You know when something’s hurting you that bad and you can’t comprehend what’s actually happening. That was one of, and I didn’t know it at the time, but I never knew that that would be something that changed the course of my life forever,” Tyler stated.
The incident induced Tyler to consider that he was going to be killed in a similar way. Having already been ‘shy growing up’, Tyler famous that he ‘didn’t come out’ of his bedroom for two years. I used to be like, completely not. I developed fairly extreme OCD… there would make sure little issues all through my day. I couldn’t open the blinds for one, and my bedroom was in full whole darkness. Couldn’t use a knife and fork at dinner.
“I couldn’t walk on that side of the road if ever I did have to go out the house. I had to, it sounds so stupid, but I had to make my bed. And if I didn’t make my bed, there was this ideology that something bad would happen to me. I was petrified I was going to die,” he said.
From right here, Tyler discovered any type of violence triggering and needed to be a witness on the trial. Appearing in courtroom made issues even more durable for him. He defined: “As I’m going past page one, page two, page three, I’m seeing the man’s body in the road,” he stated. “I’m seeing the drugs on the table in the living room. I’m seeing the murder weapon. I’m seeing all of these different things that are now imprinted in my mind.
“And I can’t, no matter how hard I try in my life, week in, week out, you can’t ever erase that picture right there of things that I didn’t even see on the day, I then saw at the court case. I think the way the whole situation was handled, I will forever be angry at it, but then also, my life and journey up until this point now I’ve managed to find some sort of peace within that anger.”
With the load of what occurred inflicting him additional ache, Tyler went to a bridge close to his house within the early hours of one morning. Tyler informed Pete that he ‘didn’t know’ what he was doing there.
Thankfully, a automobile was driving previous the bridge and beeped, which Tyler described as a ‘eureka moment’. Tyler then determined that it was time to go house.
“And it was just like within a second, you can be so worked up. You can be like, ‘I don’t want to do this’. I don’t want to be here. Fixated on something and it was like, it’s just, it’s essentially a car horn that saved me in that moment,” he stated.
