The US Federal Aviation Administration stated on Monday that seats on hundreds of Boeing 737 MAX jets registered within the US were incorrectly put in and should be mounted.
If not, the seats might injure passengers throughout an emergency touchdown.
The FAA’s proposed airworthiness directive issued on Monday would apply to 453 jets registered within the US. It didn’t say whether or not worldwide operators would even be affected, although they sometimes observe FAA directives if relevant.
The company stated within the airworthiness directive proposal that it obtained “a report that certain passenger seat assemblies were not correctly installed in the seat tracks.”
There might be as much as 69 track-mounted passenger seat assemblies on every 737 MAX airplane and the difficulty would take an estimated one work-hour to repair every meeting, the FAA stated.
It didn’t say how shortly airways would want to repair the difficulty.
Boeing didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.
