Ronnie O’Sullivan knocked out of Shanghai Masters by Kyren Wilson

Seven-time world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan has been knocked out of the Shanghai Masters within the second spherical by Kyren Wilson.

Defending Shanghai champion Wilson produced breaks of 113 and 91 on the best way to a 3-1 lead towards the 50-year-old.

O’Sullivan knocked in three centuries in a row with breaks of 100, 111 and 131 to maneuver 4-3 up in an entertaining match.

However, Wilson responded with runs of 89, 79 and 97 to clinch three frames in a row for a 6-4 victory which units up a quarter-final towards Mark Williams, who beat Chris Wakelin 6-5.

“It is always great playing in Shanghai and somebody of the class of Ronnie O’Sullivan,” stated 2024 world champion Wilson.

“You know the crowd are going to come out in their numbers when he is playing. It inspires me and makes me want to play snooker.

“I’ve my youngsters with me and I wished to point out them how wonderful snooker is out right here. I hope they loved that one.”
