Good Morning Britain followers accused Ranvir Singh of “losing it” throughout her interview with Tory minister James Cleverly. The Shadow Home Secretary appeared on the programme after asserting that the Conservatives would ban full-time council workers from working a four-day week. Cleverly mentioned “taxpayers should not be paying full rates for part-time services” and vowed to “end the nonsense” if they were to come into office at the next general election. Singh led the interview, and her frustration concerning the state of affairs was imminent.
She challenged why the Tories weren’t addressing different urgent points and questioned why he was so against council workers working a four-day week. “There are other more pressing issues at local government level,” she fumed, claiming Good Morning Britain viewers are extra involved about points surrounding the expenditure by native councils on grownup social care.
The presenter requested: “Why aren’t you getting stuck into that this morning? That is where the real pinch point is for people watching this morning, not four-day weeks!”
Cleverly snapped again: “Are you suggesting that we should only deal with one issue?”
Singh retorted: “No. I’m suggesting that there are bigger issues at play that bother people this morning than a council worker working a four-day week and according to some statistics, doing slightly less work or slightly more work.”
When she accused the politician of “avoiding” the social care issue, a baffled Cleverly replied: “What do you mean ‘appear to be avoiding’? I have spoken about Labour’s mismanagement of local government funding.”
Interjecting, Singh remarked: “This isn’t just about Labour. The social care problem has been going on for much longer as you well know. It’s been underfunded for the last decade or more.”
Hitting again, Cleverly mentioned: “I’m going to finish the point I was making and I can then move onto another point if you want me to.”
The hostile interplay did not go unmissed by viewers as they took to X to share their ideas, with many specializing in Singh’s behaviour particularly.
“Whoa she’s being well rude you can disagree with someone in a professional way #gmb,” one viewer wrote as a second shared: “Cleverly sits as cool as a cucumber Ranvir’s completely lost her nut. Embarrassing.”
“Ranvir coming across as a nasty individual today. She is being very personal here.. not good,” added a 3rd as one other fumed: “Ranvir you aggressive moron. How rude is this woman? She’s absolutely horrible.”
Another accused the ITV host of getting an “attitude” with the Tory minister, whereas a further viewer declared: “What a car crash interview.”
Others had been pissed off by Cleverly’s views, questioning why there’s a drawback with council workers working a four-day week.
Explaining the way it has positively impacted their life, one commented: “I work across 4 days. Still full time. I now have more time to help with my homelife and my child. This is 2026.”
Another echoed: “I worked four days a week for ten years. But I worked the same hours over 4 days as a five day week. Longer days. Three of those days I worked from home. My productivity NEVER dipped. If anything I worked more when at home. This myth of just having a day off is mindblowing.”
A 3rd mentioned: “For the past 4 years I have (via flexi working agreement) worked 4 days but full time hours and pay. Slightly longer days in the 4 but it’s not an issue. If this is how it would work what’s the issue?”
A fourth agreed: “James, mate, four days working week means you work 37.5 hours a week over four days.”
