Netflix director responds to report Zayn Malik punched Louis Tomlinson on set: ‘There goes the last year of work’

The director of a Netflix documentary about former One Direction members Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson has responded to stories of an alleged altercation between the two, which has seemingly brought about the challenge to be scrapped.

Last year, it was revealed that Nicola Marsh – the director behind the Demi Lovato documentary Child Star – would steer a three-part series following Malik and Tomlinson on a street journey in the US.

As properly as discussing their experiences of fame, private lives and careers, the two musicians had been anticipated to discuss the tragic death of their bandmate, Liam Payne, in 2024.

However, a report in The Sun claims that the collection has been scrapped following an incident six months in the past by which Malik, 33, allegedly punched Tomlinson, 34, after making a comment about his late mom.

Tomlinson’s mum died of leukaemia in December 2016, aged 43.

As Tomlinson apparently went to react to the remark, “Zayn then attacked him… punched him straight in the face. Because he was wearing rings, it cut Louis’ head.”

The supply claimed that the on-set row occurred outdoors “in front of so many people” and left Tomlinson “stunned and in shock”.

He was reportedly taken for medical remedy and had a concussion.

Netflix reportedly determined to scrap the documentary last month when it turned clear that the pair wouldn’t reconcile.

The Independent has contacted Netflix and Malik and Tomlinson’s representatives for remark.

On Friday night (17 April), Marsh shared The Sun’s entrance web page to her Instagram story and commented: “And there goes the last year of work.”

Celebrity account Pop Base additionally reported that Tomlinson has unfollowed Malik on Instagram.

Netflix had not formally introduced the collection, however stories of it had been first made in October last year.

Neither Tomlinson or Malik have commented publicly about the documentary or their alleged bust-up.

Malik was admitted to hospital on Friday, the similar day he launched his newest album, Konnakol.

Hours after the album turned obtainable for streaming, the 33-year-old singer shared an image of himself in a hospital robe sporting what seems to be a blood strain cuff on his Instagram Story. Several wires may be seen peeking out from below his arm.

Malik, who is ready to start his world tour at the AO Arena in Manchester on 12 May, didn’t share particulars of the situation that had prompted his hospital go to.

Tomlinson is presently on tour and can play his first UK date at the Co-Op Live area in Manchester on 24 April, in assist of his newest album, How Did I Get Here?
