Moya Brennan: Funeral of Irish singer and musician takes place in Donegal

The Celtic folks singer, songwriter and harpist from the Irish-speaking Donegal Gaeltacht space of Gweedore recorded about 25 albums and bought hundreds of thousands of data worldwide.

She rose to prominence as half of her household’s band, which shaped in 1970 and later included Moya’s youthful sister, Enya.

A quantity of tributes have been paid to Brennan, who was regarded by many because the First Lady of Celtic Music, with Irish President Catherine Connolly saying her music can be loved for generations to come back.

There was a presentation of symbols from her life in the church, together with a harp, a bodhrán [a traditional Irish drum], a prayer e book, a household {photograph} and a Donegal GAA jersey.

She is survived by her husband, Tim Jarvis, and their daughter, Aisling, and son, Paul.
