A new TV show starring Josie Gibson and Paul Ainsworth is ready to convey Gloucestershire’s culinary legacy to the nationwide stage, showcasing the county’s historic Tewkesbury mustard and Stinking Bishop cheese.
Josie’s Taste of the Westcountry follows the Bristol-born broadcaster alongside superstar chef Paul Ainsworth as they traverse the county, uncovering beloved native eating places, craftspeople, and meals producers from Gloucestershire all the way down to Cornwall.
Throughout the five-part collection, 41-year-old Josie embarks on a regional journey, beginning off in the idyllic Cotswolds. Meeting with Countryfile’s Adam Henson, Josie meets his particular pigs earlier than making an attempt one of the UK’s smelliest cheeses, the Stinking Bishop, made well-known by Wallace and Gromit.
Joining Paul in the kitchen, she then helps him make a scrumptious fondue with historic Tewkesbury mustard.
On her journey to Gloucestershire, Josie stated: “I met Charles Martell, who makes Stinking Bishop – the rare cheese made famous by Wallace & Gromit! It made him an overnight sensation!
“I met the girl that does Tewksberry Mustard Balls in the Tudor city of Tewkesbury. It’s the birthplace of mustard that was so good, even William Shakespeare was writing about it.”
A faithful West Country native, Josie expressed her enthusiasm about presenting the world’s best culinary delights.
She stated: “With its mild, rolling hills, rugged moors and lovely shoreline, it is all the time been a spot near my coronary heart.
“If you are a foodie and you love the Westcountry, you’re going to love this show! Even if you’re not – you’re still going to love this show! It’s very wholesome. I was on a learning adventure.”
Josie mirrored: “I did not realise how a lot we had on our doorstep, we must be actually, actually proud of it. It was wonderful to actually shine a light-weight on some of the unimaginable people in the Westcountry.
“I really like the Westcountry – I’d like to provide an enormous thanks to all these Westcountry people that I’ve met alongside the best way.”
Josie is joined by Paul Ainsworth, patron chef at Paul Ainsworth at Number 6 which has been awarded one Michelin star.
“I used to be working with Paul Ainsworth – it was the primary time I’ve met him – and I’ve all the time tried to get into his restaurant,” she stated.
“He made so many unimaginable dishes, with layers of flavour in a means I’ve by no means skilled earlier than. We’d supply the elements and he’d show me learn how to rework these healthful elements into mouth-watering, unforgettable dishes!
