The Denmark worldwide arrived in Scotland to a lot fanfare, being paraded onto the park alongside fellow recruits Tuur Rommens and Tochi Chukwuani.
Despite being the high-profile winter arrival, many anticipated extra from the 26-year-old, even after contributing 4 targets and assists in 10 video games.
“He’s not the participant I assumed he was,” Stewart stated on the Record Rangers podcast, relating to the Wolfsburg man. “I’m attempting to assume what he truly brings to the desk.
“When a winger is available in for that value, he should have a trick, he should be fast, he should get after folks or make these unselfish runs in behind to create house for another person, or provide a risk together with his set-pieces.
“But I’m struggling to assume what he brings. I do know he’s had a few assists, however for that kind of cash, you expect a game-changer, actually. I assumed each time he acquired the ball on Saturday, he handed it backwards. And it’s not even like he would play it backwards, then run in behind for a return go.
“It’s actually unusual as a result of, as you say, I used to be actually optimistic after we acquired him. I assumed, ‘phew, he could be the one who gets us over the line.’ But it’s been such underwhelming performances from him. It seems to be like there’s an actual insecurity from him, which I simply can’t perceive.
On his personal experiences, Stewart continued, “He’s taking part in in a staff that’s not misplaced since December. And the supervisor is exhibiting a little bit of belief in him as properly. When he’s performed badly, he’s been allowed to play once more. I want I had that beneath Stevie G!
“I’d play properly and nonetheless be dropped. When I noticed a participant like him being linked to Rangers, I assumed, ‘Here we go! He could be the game changer we need,’ because we have struggled on the right-hand side since Vaclav Cerny left. I was desperate to sign him. I don’t know why we didn’t, as a result of that was a no brainer for me.
“But yeah, with Skov Olsen, I’m struggling to see it. With six games left, there’s still time, and hopefully he can dig out a bit of magic from somewhere because he must have something when you look at the teams he’s played for and the fact he has 40 caps for Denmark.”
