Rachael Blackmore is getting ready for a “utterly completely different expertise” on Grand National day after being revealed as part of ITV Racing’s presenting team on Saturday.
Blackmore, 36, made history in 2021 when becoming the first female jockey to win the world’s most famous race on Minella Times, and was ninth on Minella Indo on her final ride in the contest last year.
She said: “I’m looking forward to joining the ITV Racing team at Aintree on Saturday for this year’s Grand National. It transcends our sport, capturing the attention of millions all around the world.
“This year will be a completely different experience for me not going into the weighing room, but I’m excited for the challenge. I’ve not gone down that road before but we’ll see how Saturday goes. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Blackmore was again at Aintree on Thursday to be inducted as a Grand National legend earlier than formally opening a bar named in her honour.
“It’s an incredibly special place,” she stated. “I had such an incredible day here in 2021 and I absolutely love coming back. I love the city and the people.
“When I see the checklist of names in the corridor of fame, it is so particular to be a part of it and such an honour. And to see this stunning bar – I by no means thought I’d have a bar named after me!”
Blackmore retired from race-riding last year and is now expecting her first child. Asked who she would fancy getting on if she was still riding, she said: “I feel Monty’s Star, Henry de Bromhead’s horse, has an excellent likelihood.
“Henry doesn’t bring them over without them having a chance. He has Grade 1 form in his past and I think he’ll really enjoy the ground and the fences.”
