The British Book Awards have fun the greatest books revealed in 2025, with winners set to be introduced at a ceremony in London on 11 May.
Jones, who grew up in Porthcawl, Bridgend county, had her first novel, Never Greener, revealed in 2018.
Since then she has written, Us Three (2020), Love Untold (2022), and launched her most up-to-date novel, By Your Side, final year.
By Your Side follows Linda Standish, a council employee in the unclaimed heirs unit who investigates the lives of individuals who have died alone and makes an attempt to trace down any surviving relations. As she prepares to retire, her ultimate case centres on a Welshman who had made his dwelling on a distant Scottish island.
Jones will compete for the author of the year award towards a quantity of high-profile writers together with American author Freida McFadden, recognized for the bestselling novel The Housemaid, and Mick Herron, whose Slough House espionage thriller sequence has gained a large readership.
Illustrator Charlie Mackesy, fantasy novelist AF Steadman and The Forty Rules Of Love author Elif Shafak are additionally nominated in the class.
Other awards at the ceremony embody classes for greatest illustrator, fiction, debut fiction, science fiction and fantasy, uncover, romantic fiction author and graphic novel.
This year can even see the BBC Radio 2 Book Club award introduced for the first time. The winner can be chosen from final year’s BBC Radio 2 Book Club choices by a judging panel that features Radio 2 presenter Sara Cox.
Cox stated she was “chuffed to bits” to be launching the award.
