The Fitzpatrick brothers, Matt and Alex, got here into the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with loads of momentum as people – they usually’re as keen as ever to place issues collectively as a pair.
The Fitzpatricks fired a tidy 7-under 64 in Foursomes on Friday and had the clubhouse lead after they completed within the early afternoon.
“I felt we played great today. We barely missed a shot,” Matt Fitzpatrick mentioned. “Made the putts when we needed to, made some good birdie looks, and yeah, just felt like we played really solid all around today.”
Matt, who has gained twice already this season on the PGA TOUR, together with final week in a playoff at the RBC Heritage, and Alex, who gained his maiden DP World Tour title earlier in 2026, opened with an 8-under 64 Thursday.
The brothers made two birdies and an eagle on their first 9 holes within the second spherical earlier than including back-to-back birdies on Nos. 1-2 after beginning on the again 9. They added birdies on the par-4 fifth and the par-5 seventh, with the one blemish being a bogey on No. 3.

“Obviously great round today,” Matt mentioned. “Sort of obviously disappointing finish (Thursday), but I feel like we’re in good stead going into the weekend for sure.
“I think we both played really, really nice golf today, and I think if we can take that again into the weekend, it will be (fun).”
Alex Fitzpatrick, who sits seventh within the Race to Dubai standings, has lengthy relished seeing his brother have success on golf’s greatest phases. But now the duo – who grew to become the primary set of brothers to win on the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour in back-to-back weeks earlier in 2026 – are in search of much more collectively at a spot they’ve develop into awfully snug at.

“Playing here as a family has been great for us, not seeing each other that much in the year. Since we first came here, I think four years ago now, (New Orleans has) made us incredibly welcomed. Almost like took us in with open arms,” Alex mentioned. “Coming here every year is exciting, and we always look forward to it. So now it’s almost like a bit of a second home we like it that much.”
“We love coming here,” added Matt. “It’s a much different change of pace tournament-wise. It doesn’t feel quite as intense. You’ve got a teammate to back you up. It’s obviously even nicer that it’s my brother. Yeah, just looking forward to the weekend.”
