Firefighters have rushed to an incident at Eastbourne Pier.

Crews are at the moment tackling a hearth and have requested individuals to ‘please avoid the area’, on Sunday morning (August 30).

It has been reported that the fireplace began at a fish and chip store.

“Any properties close by ought to hold doorways and home windows closed,” a spokesperson for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service mentioned.

“Further updates will observe.”

An eye witness mentioned there was ‘no visible smoke’ however they noticed ‘lots of emergency vehicles’ within the space.

AA Traffic News reported that B2106 Grand Parade is partially blocked, with gradual visitors each methods close to Eastbourne Pier.
