Frazer Hammill’s loss of life was a ‘full shock to the entire household’

An actor who starred in Emmerdale and Happy Valley took his personal life the day after he was arrested by police, an inquest has heard.
Frazer Hammill, described as ‘gifted and kind-hearted’ was found dead at his residence tackle aged 41 on December 30, 2025. Frazer had left a be aware on a neighbour’s door with a key to his property.
He informed them to not enter and to name the police as he had taken his personal life. Doncaster Coroners’ Court found on Monday (April 20) that he had hung himself the day after being arrested by Lancashire Police.

Frazer was questioned at a police station in Doncaster on December 29. Custody officers on the station mentioned he ‘gave the impression to be in good spirits’ as he left following questioning, reviews Yorkshire Live.
They mentioned that they had ‘no considerations; relating to his security and psychological wellbeing. Yorkshire Live requested Lancashire Police for extra info relating to the arrest.
Area coroner Louise Slater concluded Frazer died from suicide, with the medical reason behind loss of life famous as ‘1a. hanging’. She mentioned: “Frazer Hammill handed away at his residence on December 30.
“He was a single man, an actor, and very near his relations. Frazer left a message for neighbours indicating he had taken his personal life, to not enter the property, and to name the police.”
Mrs Slater said the police found Frazer, who could not be resuscitated by paramedics. His time of death was recorded as 2.13pm.
She added: “I’m conscious that Frazer had been helping police with some enquiries the day earlier than his loss of life and had left notes for mates and household to contemplate. Therefore, I’m happy that this was a deliberate act and Frazer had put thought, planning and intention into his actions.
“I am satisfied he intended to end his life at that point. I wish my most sincere condolences to Frazer’s family and friends at this distressing time.”
In a press release learn out in courtroom, Frazer’s sister Caroline Hammil described his passing as a ‘full shock to the entire household’. Nobody had been conscious he was struggling together with his psychological well being and ‘feeling low sufficient to finish his life’.

“All my household liked you and at all times spoke so extremely of you! Me and you spoke about our large plans for 2026. We set objectives and goals. You had been in such a great place emotionally, career-wise, FLYING, nevertheless it wasn’t sufficient to maintain you with us.”
