French shopper items group Danone has agreed to purchase Huel, the UK producer of milkshake-style meal replacements, for about €1bn because it pushes deeper into vitamin.
Huel makes “complete food” powders, snack bars and meals out of a mix of plant-based substances, fortified with nutritional vitamins.
The UK firm, which began out as a direct-to-consumer enterprise, is greatest recognized for its chocolate, banana and vanilla flavoured drinks, standard with fitness-focused younger professionals. These are actually offered by supermarkets as a part of their lunch “meal deals”. Huel merchandise are additionally offered in the US and Europe.
“With Danone, we will now have the infrastructure, distribution and R&D capability to go further, into new markets and to more people, as demand for convenient, complete nutrition continues to grow,” stated James McMaster, Huel’s chief govt.
The deal marks the most recent push by Danone, which produces Activia yoghurt and Evian water, to acquire publicity to rising demand for so-called useful vitamin, together with dietary supplements and fortified meals and drinks.
