Now the water firm has confirmed the repair has been accomplished – and put the trigger of the outlet all the way down to the collapse of an unmarked pipe.

A Severn Trent spokesman stated: “Our teams have been carrying out emergency repairs this week on Cunnery Road after a sinkhole appeared.

“When we excavated, we found that an unmapped pipe had collapsed and the highways authority is now continuing to survey the asset to confirm ownership.

“Due to the urgent nature of the situation, we carried out the repair, and the road is expected to be open later today.

“We want to thank everyone for their patience while this has been ongoing.”
