Pit bathrooms are primary, non-flush latrines that accumulate human waste in a deep gap in the bottom. They are widespread in distant or rural areas, similar to off-grid tenting websites.
NT WorkSafe, which regulates office well being and security in the territory, stated the company managing the Henbury conservation zone had notified it of the incident.
