Andrew Henderson: Leigh Leopards appoint ex-London and York coach as director of rugby

Leigh Leopards have appointed former London Broncos head coach Andrew Henderson as director of rugby.

The 46-year-old joins Leigh having beforehand been head coach at York Knights and later as their director of rugby after Mark Applegarth took over in 2024.

Henderson, who will “take responsibility for all rugby operations, including first-team performance, recruitment strategy, pathway development, and long-term planning” in accordance with the membership, takes on the position which was previously led by Chris Chester, who left to join Castleford Tigers final 12 months.

“Leigh is a club with a proud history, a passionate fanbase, and an ambition that truly resonates with me,” he stated.

“The chance to contribute to the next chapter of this organisation is one I accept with great enthusiasm and a strong sense of responsibility.

“I need to place on document my honest because of York chairman Clint Goodchild for his acceptance and understanding right now. It has been a privilege to be half of a collective effort that strengthened the membership each on and off the sector, supporting its transition to Super League.”
