Downed tree on tracks causes LIRR delays

KEW GARDENS, Queens (WABC) — Long Island Rail Road service was quickly delayed Wednesday morning after a tree fell onto the tracks at Kew Gardens.

The tree fell from non-public property onto the tracks, inflicting LIRR to skip Woodside, Forest Hills, and Kew Gardens stations at the beginning of the morning commute.

“Eastbound Main Line trains will continue to bypass Kew Gardens only while our crews safely remove debris from the platform,” the LIRR stated.

Workers have now eliminated the downed tree, and service has been restored.
