Aston Villa make approach to Bayer Leverkusen for striker Christian Kofane

Aston Villa have made an approach to Bayer Leverkusen for striker Christian Kofane.

Villa are long-standing admirers of the 20-year-old, with curiosity pre-dating his switch to Leverkusen in 2025.

Leverkusen don’t want to promote Kofane and don’t intend to achieve this after club-to-club contact was made by Villa.

The Premier League outfit’s curiosity in Kofane relates to the continued scenario with Ollie Watkins, who has made clear he needs to be a part of Al Hilal.

Last week, Villa rejected a fourth supply value £45million for the 30-year-old and don’t want to promote him. However, Villa are stepping up contingency plans, with Kofane among the many choices to change Watkins.

The Athletic revealed earlier Tuesday that Villa had a bid rejected for Jean-Philippe Mateta by Crystal Palace. Other choices embrace AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and Nicolas Jackson, who’s a number one goal of supervisor Unai Emery’s.

Kofane made 44 appearances throughout all competitions for Leverkusen final season, scoring seven objectives and registering 9 assists.

In December 2025, Kofane was known as up to the Cameroon nationwide staff for the primary time and featured of their Africa Cup of Nations marketing campaign shortly afterwards.
