LOS ANGELES — Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani handed Hall of Famer Ichiro Suzuki for the longest on-base streak by a Japanese-born participant on (*44*) evening.
Ohtani singled within the fifth inning in opposition to Kumar Rocker of the Texas Rangers, extending his streak to 44 games. It was his thirteenth recreation reaching base in as many tries this season. His streak started on Aug. 24 and lasted the ultimate 31 games of final season.
Suzuki reached base in 43 consecutive games in 2009 with the Seattle Mariners. Ohtani has mentioned he admired Suzuki whereas rising up.
Ohtani had already handed Suzuki in one other class. In 2024, Ohtani’s 59 stolen bases broke Suzuki’s report for steals by a Japanese-born participant in a season. Suzuki had 56 in 2001.
