Ashley Warren has been jailed for 10 years after his XL bully canine mauled his aged mother-in-law to demise at his dwelling.
The 42-year-old left the canine with Esther Martin, 68, when she was fatally attacked in Jaywick, Essex, on 3 February 2024.
The XL bully breed had been banned in England and Wales two days earlier.
Sentencing Warren at Chelmsford Crown Court, Judge Mr Justice Johnson mentioned the defendant had not proven “any genuine remorse” for the assault.
