The former TOWIE star launched her petition for the federal government to make glove-wearing obligatory throughout all ice-skating rinks.
Former Towie star Chloe Lewis is asking for a brand new law change after her son’s finger was ‘sliced off’ throughout a terrifying ice skating accident.
The actuality TV star not too long ago opened up concerning the terrible incident that occurred on New Year’s Eve. At the time, her six yr outdated son Beau fell over on the ice and had his finger run over by another skater who was wearing bladed skates.
He was rushed to hospital for emergency surgical procedure, the place medical workers unsuccessfully tried to reattach the severed finger.
Chloe appeared on Wednesday’s (March 11) episode of Good Morning Britain and revealed that she is now campaigning for the federal government to make protecting gloves obligatory for kids while ice skating.
Speaking to hosts Ed Ball and Susanna Reid, she defined: “I do not need to see every other mum or dad undergo what I went via and little one as nicely.
“But for me, it was more that I can’t bring back his finger and I’m hoping that it’s not going to bother him in secondary school, which can happen, people can be horrible to people.
“So for me, it’s more that one day I can hopefully tell him that we changed the law. I can’t bring back your finger, but one day we’ve changed the law and made it better for other children and safer for other children.”
Following the incident, Planet Ice, the biggest ice rink operator in the UK, has decided to change its rules. There will be “obligatory normal glove carrying for kids beneath 12 in any respect Planet Ice rinks all through the UK from June 1,” the company said in a statement.
The incident with Chloe’s son did not happen at one of their venues but the Towie star launched her petition for the government to make glove-wearing compulsory across all ice-skating rinks.
Chloe went on to say: “Planet Ice has now, because of what happened with me and Beau, made it compulsory from the 1st of June that there will be gloves and it’s compulsory that children wear them under the age of 12.
“So they’ve done this just on the pure fact that they think it should be a law already. I’m hoping that once this falls in place and we’ve got 100,000 signatures we can get to that stage.”
The government responds to all petitions that get more than 10,000 signatures, and at 100,000 signatures, petitions are considered for debate in Parliament.
At the time, Chloe was reluctant to share the news about the incident as she told her almost one million Instagram followers: “I didn’t know whether or not to share this with the world or not, as he’s my child & as a mum or dad you’re all the time protecting over your little one. I’m sharing to assist others and lift consciousness.”
